On March 19, the Scottish Heritage Society of Iowa will present a talk by member David Lamb on "Clan and Kindred". David will talk about the association of Scottish names with clan crests and badges to identify kinsmen and how they relate in modern times to the hundreds of tartan variants out there. He will discuss particular talismans associated with families - particularly among the Gaelic and Pictish populations; for instance, the crabapple with the Lamont's of Argyll, or the mistletoe with the Hays'.
A short film on the 12 largest Scottish clans will be shown. Followed by a demonstration of a keepsake mounting of badges and tartans for display.
